Loving an Addict and BEST WFPB Brownie Bites Ever!
1. Do You Love An Addict and Do They Make You A Little (or A LOT) Crazy? I spent 2 years in Al-Anon meetings (12 step meetings for people who love and care for addicts) and I got the best education on co-dependency. I have listened to and read so much about this topic!
My beautiful grandmother died in a fire she started accidentally (smoking and drinking in bed) and her disease effected us all. Alcohol is a family (and friends!) disease- we all are impacted. Knowing the role you play matters.
This recording is spectacular- it is nothing new about co-dependency but the WAY she epresses it is so very helpful! Have a listen. Find an Al-Anon meeting here.
2. Like Brownies Only Whole Food! I don’t share a lot of recipes with you, BUT I found the holy grail of substitutes for chewy gooey brownies. I make these and keep them in the freezer as “balls”. My daughter and I are never going back! VEGAN BROWNIE BITES. Mark and I went whole foods plant based in January and it has been shockingly easy. I like these ladies a lot!
3. Comfort Reading Right Now: Somehow this book hit the spot – sweet, tender, poignant and made me laugh! I caught the interview of the author with Oprah and fell in love with him! Meet poet Ocean Vuong—-because he is a poet first– this novel is so wonderful and I didn’t expect it to be so funny too!
“These people, bound by nothing but toil in a tiny kitchen that was never truly a kitchen, paid just above minimum wage, their presence known to each other mostly through muscle memory, the shape of their bodies ingrained in the psyche from hours of periphery maneuvering through the narrow counters and back rooms of a fast-food joint designed by a corporate architect, so that they would come to know the sound of each other’s coughs and exhales better than those of their kin and loved ones.”
– “The Emperor of Gladness” by Ocean Vuong

5. Quote I loved from Maya Angelou!
“Most people don’t grow up. Most people age. They find parking spaces, pay their credit cards, get married, have children, and call that maturity. What that is, is aging. But to grow up, to take responsibility for the time you take up, and the space you occupy, to honor every living person for his or her humanity, that is to grow up.”
Maya Angelou.
with much love,
Sarah
