And the Revolution Shall Be YIN…

Here are a few ideas that I hope will uplift you in this moment.
1. Consider the idea that this could be the first YIN revolution?
It’s been another week of seeing human rights and due process disappear into thin air in our country. Cruelty is on display. Seeing a female Ivy League student, who is legally here on a VISA, being taken forcibly in broad daylight by ICE agents was v. triggering for me. How are you doing? (hit reply to let me know if it feels good!)
I watched a REEL a few weeks back . The creator, a woman from Portland, mused (optimistically) that this could be a YIN revolution. A bloodless, quiet, slow revolution. I pray for this today and every day.
What would a YIN revolution look like? Boycotting. Knitting with others in public. Peaceful protests. Stillness. Quietude. Book clubs. Connection with others. Potlucks. Collaboration. General strikes. Volunteering at food banks. Art making. A deeper, quieter process.
Boy does that resonate....through quietly..in our own sovereign ways, we could restore justice, tolerance and truth. Here’s a bit more on what YIN might look like:
“Yin is the energy of connection, not competition. Yin is the energy of collaboration, not conflict. Yin is slower and deeper, not faster and “better.” Yin is every bit as strong and powerful as yang, or at least it would be if we would acknowledge it.
Like consistent, running water which slowly smoothes out all the cracks, chips, and rough edges of a stone, yin is soft and quiet. It doesn’t make its presence heard nor shout out for attention; however, it should command ours.
2. A Book That’s Comforted Me This Week:
“Amidst the current unraveling and flood of radical changes and the conflicts threatening to tear the [United States of America] apart, there can be no shortage of meaningful tasks, healing adventures, and worthwhile projects.
Each of us can find gainful employment nearby—whether it is in the margins of culture or amidst the mysteries and profundities of nature—if we are willing to face some darkness and be in the right trouble. In the willingness to face the troubles of life and lend a hand to creation we might discover the “seeing instruments” that allow us to develop genuine foresight and valuable insights.
Seen in this way, the effort of each person initiates a reversal of the unraveling begun by the black dog of chaos. Each imitates to one degree or another the Old Woman of the World who boldly faces the mess of things and bends down to pick up a thread from all the chaos and confusion that has entered the world and begins weaving the living garment of the world all over again.
In this way, there is no need to know what plan is best or whom everyone must follow, for the new design will appear from the creative darkness all around us. From the eloquence of the beginning, the original sound and song of life will be heard again as it continues to murmur and sigh, to resonate and hum and whisper its many-tongued, living language that continues”
— Why the World Doesn’t End, Tales of Renewal in Times of Loss by Michael Meade
This whole book is filled with the mythology of the “end of the world” and how it always begins, all over again. In my favorite myth, it is the old woman who picks up the loose threads from the chaotic mess and quietly begins to weave the world back together.
“Yin Revolution” by Sarah Seidelmann- learn more here.
How would that look in your world…if YOU were the old woman, weaving our world back together?
It’s time to “face the troubles and lend a hand to the new creation”. To lean in. To connect with one another. If you are needing ideas, here are a few lists to get you thinking!
Getting involved with a local woman-led non-profit by volunteering (and now being on their board) has been life giving for me.
Joining my local group of Indivisible and 50501 has also given me so much purpose. Fear is here to stay and I will not let it keep me from loving and longing for justice and freedom for all beings.
I promise, you will get out of bed with purpose and fill your days (and nights) with meaninful and beautiful conversations and actions.
3. The Eclipse is Upon Us! This month, March of 2025 and its final eclipse are the talk of every astrologer. It’s BIG. We are bing called into a HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS. One of love, community. One heart. One love. Patriarchy is being deconstructed and how do we navigate?
Heather Ensworth says that, “We are needing to find a way to step into the sanctity of the self. Taking responsibility for our own actions and live from right action and right knowing” is the way forward.
We are re-looking at our values and how we can live in compassion- being sensitive and caring towards others. Curious to learn more about all of this astrology on the US?
When fear comes…step back and re-center yourself.
It’s a good time to take a retreat. To get quiet. To be in nature. To pray (if you are a prayer!).
And to listen to your soul to see where it wants to guide you next.
Doing your own healing work around victim vs. perpetrator is important.
I am here to help.
4. It’s a Powerful Time to Weave A Strong Connection to Your Soul. To heal our trauma. Many of us have experienced soul loss and being creative is one way that I have found can restore the soul.
“The artistic impulse is an exquisite derangement – like drugs, like love, like faith, like grief – a complete and full-force commandeering of the body and the heart. It is a kind of possession, a thrilling seduction, an enchantment, as the ink and paint flow and dance. ”
– Nick Cave, The Red Hand Files
(Ashley Longshore is a goddess of CREATIVITY and I honored her in my dinner plate series!)
Writing, painting, singing, dancing, collaging, or any other form of creative SELF expression is a VERY EFFECTIVE way to restore your soul.
