We Need YOUR Spiritual Practice

“Invite the Buddha within you to arise and breathe you. Rest in 5 to 10 of these together breaths and notice the difference in your heart”
~Alice the Elephant, Pachydermal Advice for Opening Your Heart
Here are a Few Tips to Help You Show Up and Grow in Your Own Life!
1. We Need Your Spiritual Practice. After spending much time with Alice, my spirit elephant (I visit her via drumming/shamanic journeying) and the Wise Buddhist teacher Thicht Naht Hahn in the last week, I have been reminded that KARMA, the good kind, is powerful.
I’ve observed that we most often speak of bad karma (my friend has a hilarious refrigerator magnet that says “I Saw THAT! ~Karma”)….
AND, Thicht Naht Han reminds us that good karma…other wise known as “right action” causes powerful positive ripples out into the Universe.
Kindness.
Acts of love and devotion.
Listening very carefully to another person without interrupting.
Performing loving kindness meditation. (link is to a 25 minute guided metta meditation with Jack Kornfeld)
At this time of uncertainty in the US, there is much fear and many vulnerable people are feeling hopeless. Please don’t forget that your heart is powerful. Your meditation. Your loving acts. I am remembering this and it’s giving me strength.
You have the power to generate positive karma and transform the Universe..
2. Now Is A Good Time for the Divine: Where there is so much uncertainty, it can be tempting to flip on the TV, drink wine, or escape in whatever your favorite ways are (my escapist MO is to surf real estate on Zillow! “Let’s MOVE!”).
What if, instead, WE girded our loins a teeny tiny bit and WE asked the divine to help US to (1.) understand what’s going on in the world (2.) how you can help?
Q: But how do I ask the divine for help? What if I ‘m not sure I even believe in it?
A: It will look different for all people….here are a few ideas!
1. Try Two way prayer
2. Go on a shamanic journey to your spirit animal (find yours here by taking a guided journey with me) See what happens? That’s how I started out in 2010 and look how bananas I am now?:) It changed me life in such a good way.
3. Make a prayer in the morning (to whomever you pray to) asking that you be shown how you can help in this world. Observe carefully who and what shows up in each day. Continue the prayer each morning until you feel you have received a response.
4. Look deeply at your own fear, like a scientist would by writing about it on paper with a pen until you understand at the deepest level what frightens you. Have compassion for yourself. Allow your self to express any grief or anger orwhatver feelings come up.

3. Boundaries Make (MORE!) Love Possible.

6. Quote that gave me JOY.
“May anti-trans folks someday experience the joy and liberation of being comfortable in your own skin enough to know that the liberation of others is no threat to you. Equality is not a pie; there is more than enough for everyone.”

A Creative Soul Retrieval
Self-expression is an important component to our vitality. Creative practice restores our well being. Together we will endeavor to connect with our own souls to retrieve something important and bring it to life.
“In many shamanic societies, if you came to a medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions: “When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you stop being enchanted by stories? When did you stop being comforted by the sweet territory of silence?”
-Gabrielle Roth
You will learn a simple technique for soul-retrieving self expression that is restorative and healing.
You will spend time in creative community weaving your connection to the whole.
Its FREE
