Future Generations Will Be Proud of Us

(poster above is for my art documentary- you can come to a screening -please see below or watch it HERE)
Here are a few ideas that I hope will uplift you in this moment.
1. Some Podcast Episodes ALTER the Course of Your Year. This is such an episode. I sent it out and a friend responded with this:I finished listening seconds ago. That was the most
delicious two hours I’ve had in a very long time.
I have so many feelings and thoughts,
revelations and remembrances. I won’t list them here.
But I will share that my world’s internal and external, personal and national. microscopic and cosmic were colliding in beautiful, epiphanic ways.Joy ❤️.
I dont want to oversell it but, Mark and I listened Saturday night and we could not agree more. Light a candle or a fire in your hearth and YOU CAN LISTEN HERE.
2. ANGER is Holy Too. One of our jobs, if we decide to say, “YES!” to life is to feel it all….even the stuff others don’t want to feel.
When I am angry, I’ve learned that…
It might indicate that a boundary of mine has been breached (most often by myself, by the way!)
OR my anger may alert me that something is NOT OK. There’s a whole lot of NOT OK stuff happening right now.
“ANGER is the deepest form of compassion, for another, for the world, for the self, for a life, for the body, for a family and for all our ideals, all vulnerable and all, possibly about to be hurt.
“….anger is the purest form of care; the internal living flame of anger always illuminates what we belong to, what we wish to protect
and what we are willing to hazard ourselves for.
“What we name as anger is actually only the incoherent physical incapacity to sustain this deep form of care in our outer daily life; the unwillingness to be large enough and generous enough to hold what we love helplessly in our bodies or our mind with the clarity and breadth of our whole being.”
– From David Whyte’s book, Consolations: The Solace, Nourishment and Underlying Meaning of Everyday Words
I badly want to protect the TRANS community from a genocide.
I want to protect the disabled, the vulnerable, the poor, the children and WOMEN.
I am using my righteous anger as fuel for sign making and marching and video making and art making. I will keep showing up for local organizing meetings of INDIVISIBLE and 50501. I will dedicate my daily meditations and prayers for wisdom in our leadership and protections of all vulnerable people.
Will you join me and protest together in YOUR TOWN on April 5th?
3. Quote That Lit Me Up This Week: (This is for my Born to FREAK /ADHD people!)
Powerful people tend to be impulsive.
-Dr. Laurie Santos
I love this take on impulsivity. Impulsivity as a good thing. A characteristic of powerful people.
Many of us have been shamed for our irrepressible natures- yet she celebrates it. Hooray!
Dr. Santos teaches of the most popular class in Yale’s history, host of The Happiness Lab podcast, and creator of The Science of Well-Being on Coursera. Laurie teaches others how to use science-backed strategies to live happier, more fulfilling lives.

4. 🌊How to find (and re-find) your CENTER. This week as I sat to practice mindfulness with my classmates at Sounds True, it was NOT easy.
I felt instantly frustrated that only 2 of the twelve people on the zoom had their pronouns listed on their ZOOM header. (That simple act of saying”Sarah Seidelmann ((she/her) says- you are safe here to TRANS people.) “GREAT- gahhhh….Another place that is not safe -feeling for TRANS people!”, I thought”…
….then I felt frustrated at the speaker…..I didn’t like how calm she was. OF course calm is why I am here!!
That’s how I know I am insane. When I am pointing the finger at others and thinking they are the cause of my suffering.
“Your suffering is never caused by the person you’re blaming.”
– Byron Katie
After the zoom, I went looking for my center and found it out by the river’s edge. I had a strong desire to throw myself dramatically onto the ground and weep at her banks. Instead I stumbled over to a cedar tree at the river’s edge and prayed (with composure) into a branch of pine that had fallen onto the ground.
I pray to all of the invisible benevolent forces to help us come together as a people to care and love one another. To halt this genocide. To restore sanity. Mine too.
I am in deep need of the sacred these days and its easiest for me to find my center in the wide open air. I also find it when I paint to beautiful music or when I phone my sister. Or walk with a friend.
I hope you are finding your center. You are precious and your heart is so important.

Maybe your form of resistance will come in self-expression. Writing, painting, singing, dancing or any other form of creative expression is a valid way to RESIST. Join us for BEAM- its 50 bucks!
BEAM: A 30 day Mini Creative Soul Retrieval
I’m thinking that it could be so good, for me, to create a project that aims to lovingly RESIST. A study of figures in history who bravely stood for justice.
